TEACHER SHORTAGES EASE IN MARYLAND

The Maryland State Board of Education this week declared teacher shortages in a number of key subject areas, ranging from special education to secondary school math and science. At the same, new statewide data found that teacher shortages have declined significantly over the past two years.
National Teacher Recruitment Campaign
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan launched a national teacher recruitment campaign on September 27 during the NBC Education Summit in New York. The campaign features a new website —www.teach.gov — dedicated to providing information and resources for students and prospective teachers — including a new interactive "pathway to teaching" tool designed to help individuals chart their course to becoming a teacher.
